It's all a far cry, of course, from the joyless, restrictive diets of the past that our mothers and grandmothers followed in order to be slim. One such diet being the original WeightWatchers. It's fair to say that Jean Nidetch, who founded the company 61 years ago, took a tough-love approach. Not for her any namby-pamby thoughts of examining the emotional reasons that may lie behind an overweight person's unhealthy relationship with food.

The porn star believes Trump's daughter Ivanka (right) stayed away from the Manhattan courthouse for the same reason.

Chennedy Carter (top right) has slammed Caitlin Clark (bottom) on social media after bodychecking (footage left) the Indiana Fever rookie on Saturday in a now-viral moment. Carter refused to answer reporters' questions on why she shoved Clark, but criticized the guard later on social media. Replying to video of her post-game press conference - with a caption that said 'Kudos to all of this women they have really made WNBA interesting' - Carter fired back. Carter wrote '[And] that’s that on that cause beside three point shooting what does [Clark] bring to the table man.' Clark is averaging 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, though she's also coughing up 5.6 turnovers per contest.

Robert Roberson III, 57, was sentenced to death for the February 2002 death of his daughter, Nikki Curtis, at his home in Palestine in East Texas. The child had serious head injuries, and Roberson contended she accidentally fell from her bed while unwell. Nikki died the next day, February 1, 2002, and a medical examiner ruled blunt force head injuries as the cause.

Property magnate Patrice Pastor has spent $100 million buying more than a dozen iconic homes and locations in the picturesque village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Some locals have been left 'terrified' at the power he now wields in the town and the prospect of being priced out of the homes and businesses they have owned for generations. But he has won over state regulators with his promise to allow visits at the 2.5-acre outcrop occupied by the now-closed Rocky Point Restaurant 10 miles down the coast on Highway 1. A 75-year-old professional has described a months-long heartbreaking scam that led him to transfer all of his $715,000 life savings to a fake trading platform. The scam began in May last year when a woman posing as a lonely but successful Chinese 37-year-old woman living in San Francisco messaged him on LinkedIn.

A Minnesota woman didn't think twice before following a black bear when it began to chase her beloved dog. Bailey Jacobson was leaving her Maple Grove house with her German shepherd Zeus on Tuesday night, when they came face-to-face with an unexpected visitor - a mama bear and her three cubs. Zeus began trotting towards the bear, which was digging through a garbage can on the property, but this only prompted it to lunge towards him. After a momentary pause, Jacobson followed the pair as they bounded down the driveway. She and Zeus later escaped unharmed.

In one of many videos posted online documenting the incident, a wave of Pride marchers in colorful outfits banging on drums were halted along their parade route by a group of pro-Palestinian members of the LGBTQ+ community. Some donning keffiyehs, other donning leather straps and vests, the pro-Palestinian crowd halted the parade route to scream and yell at members of their own community. This is the tragic moment three friends were seen hugging each other seconds before being swept away during a flash flood in Italy.  The heartbreaking footage shows Patrizia Cormos, 20, (inset left) her friend Bianca Doros, 23, (inset right) and her boyfriend Cristian Molnar, 25, (inset centre) standing thigh deep in a churning river. Carol Haynes, 80, offered the story to a station in her native Kentucky - as foreclosure rates across the country continue to creep up in the wake of the pandemic. The financial pit created by the crisis, she said, affected her and her husband of 25 years  - after the killer virus claimed his life in 2022. His death triggered a freeze on his bank accounts, seeing their automatic mortgage payments on their two-bedroom home in Florence halted. This occurred unbeknownst to her - and led to the bank to file for foreclosure, she told Local 12 WKRC-TV. Haynes then received a letter stating the home would be auctioned off on May 23, leading her to file for bankruptcy. This put a stop to sale despite the fact she had relatively healthy finances, she said.

The charges against Jacobs have now been dismissed by a Fremont County judge because of comments 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley (middle) made during an interview. 'I'm going to be very blunt here. He has zero investment in this child. Zero. He's watching that baby so he can get laid. That's it. And have a place to sleep,' Stanley said. The suspect had admitted to biting Hayes arm while playing with him and hitting the baby's head on the bathroom door frame while trying to make him throw up.
